Post-semester Seminar Held in
Rayong
HUSOC Student Organization held a three-day
post-semester seminar in Rayong during March 10-12,
2010. A total of 45 HUSOC students, comprising members
of the student organization and activity leaders,
participated in the seminar, the main objectives of
which were to evaluate activity projects carried out
during the past academic year and to consider project
plans for activities to take place in 2010. Also
joining the trip were HUSOC Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr.
Somkiet Poopatwiboon, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Photcharanon Sayankena, and four staff
members. One of the most exciting post-meeting
activities was touring around Samet Island, where the
participants had lots of fun roaming the beaches and
swimming in the sea. It was a memorable trip!
 EG Seniors Perform English Drama
The fourth-year students majoring in English successfully organized
a traditional English drama performance, entitled ‘The Promise’ on February 10, 2010, at MSU Amphitheatre on
Khamriang Campus. An enthusiastic audience of over 800 attended the spectacular performance, which signified
not only the students’ excellent English skills but also their remarkable abilities to cooperate among their group members.
It was another great success worthy of admiration and pride. Congratulations on a job well done.
 HUSOC Cheerleaders Win at
Rajaphruek Games
HUSOC cheerleaders won the cheerleading competition at
the annual Rajaphruek Games held on January 30, 2010.
The grand final competition took place at MSU Main
Stadium among an immense crowd of enthusiastic
spectators gathering around the football field. The
event featured 18 cheering and cheerleading shows
representing 18 faculties operated at Mahasarakham
University. The well-trained HUSOC team impressed the
judges and the eagerly awaiting audience with its unique
and graceful styles plus stunning acrobatic movements.
Underlying the victory was the stimulating and powerful
chanting and singing from the HUSOC cheering team that
comprised 100 members. Congratulations!
 HUSOC Graduates Attend
Graduation Ceremony
On Wednesday, December 23, 2009, a
total of 621 graduates from Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences attended the annual graduation ceremony,
held at MSU gymnasium. The ceremony was presided over by
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn,
whose arrival was awaited by an immense crowd of
respectful people, students, and 7821 graduates, who had
arrived earlier for a three-day pre-ceremonial rehearsal
prior to the day-long ceremony.
 DWLL Celebrates X’mas
A Christmas party was organized by
students from the Department of Western Languages and
Linguistics on December 24, 2009, at Rajanakharin
Building lobby lounge. The hilarious celebration, joined
by an enthusiastic group DWLL teachers and students,
featured spectacular performances, X’mas carols, gift
exchange, and exhibition. Not only did the audience find
the activities entertaining, but the event also provided
an opportunity for students to enhance their experience
and gain an insight into Western culture.

Students Lend Hand with Green Campus Project
On Sunday, November 30, 2009,
a group of approximately 60 HUSOC students gathered to
lend a hand with the University’s Green Campus
development project. Their participation involved
growing grass in the area in front of Rajanakharin
Building to further create green and pleasant atmosphere
within Khamriang Campus. Also joining the activity were
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, HUSOC Dean, and
Asst. Prof. Dr. Photcharanon Sayankena, Deputy Dean for
Student Affairs. All of the participants took pride in
their praiseworthy participation.

EG Students Win Speech Contest
Two English-major students, Ms. Sarika Harnprathum and Ms. Buranaporn Ponthiraksa, won the first
and third places in the Northeastern regional championship of the 11th National English Language Speech Competition.
The annual speech contest, organized by the Australian Studies Center in conjunction with IDP Education, took place
at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Sakon Nakhon Campus, on September 4, 2009. It has been four
consecutive years that MSU representatives have won top awards at national English speech contests. Congratulations!
 HUSOC Holds Inthanin Games ‘09
A four-day intra-faculty
sporting festival entitled “Inthanin Games 2009” took
place at MSU stadium and gymnasium during September 2-5,
2009. The event, organized by HUSOC Student
Organization, was aimed at enhancing the relationship
and unity of HUSOC students from all study fields and
levels. Over 700 students from the four departments
participated in friendly sports competitions, which
comprised football, volleyball, basketball, beach
volleyball, sepak takraw, and cheering. The evening
session was highlighted by fun activities at the “Sports
Night” party, where the participants enjoyed food,
music, and performances.
 EG Seniors Attend Workshop
A workshop on spontaneous
translation was held on July 28, 2009, at MSU Museum,
with the aim of enhancing 4th-year English-major
students’ interpreting skills. A total of 78
participants were trained to translate simultaneously in
real situations, closely supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr.
Photcharanon Sayankena of DWLL. Information on the
historical background of the museum as well as on
various on-going exhibitions and activities was
presented by key museum curators to be translated by the
inexperienced but remarkably skillful interpreters. It
was undoubtedly a greatly beneficial experience for the
enthusiastic participants.
 Belated National Day Celebration
Held at HUSOC
Students of DWLL,
comprising English and French majors, held a belated
celebration of the American Independence Day and the
French National Day on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at RN
Building’s lobby. The celebration featured exhibitions,
performances, music, and quizzes, which greatly
attracted a large audience gathering in the event. Also
offered were food and beverages, prepared by the
organizing team under close supervision of DWLL faculty
members. The delay of the event was due to the
unfavorable conditions caused by the H1N1 flu epidemic,
which disallowed a number of major activities, including
the annual Wai Khru ceremony, to be held on campus.
 HUSOC Student Organization Holds
Seminar
HUSOC Student
Organization organized a two-day seminar during July
18-19, 2009, at Kaeng Lerng Jarn Conference Center,
located approximately 5 kilometers to the west of Maha
Sarakham. Participants were 50 students, including
HUSOC Student Organization committee members and
representatives of 9 study fields. Guest speakers from
MSU administrative offices were invited to give lectures
on office and paper-work management, as well as on
quality assurance procedures. At the seminar, the
participants also discussed and evaluated the activities
held during the past academic year in addition to
presenting the improvement plan for activities to take
place in 2009. The evening session featured
performances and fun activities that enhanced their
cooperative working atmosphere and good relationships
among the group members.
 HUSOC Welcomes New Students
An orientation of new
students took place on June 2, 2009, at RN Building,
where approximately 700 HUSOC freshmen were warmly
welcomed by HUSOC Dean, administrators, faculty members,
and representatives of HUSOC Student Council. The new
students were informed of general information about the
faculty, as well as study programs being offered and
current policies. During their meeting with their
advisors, advice was given on how to achieve one’s goal
as a student in preparation for becoming an efficient
graduate in the future.
 HUSOC Arranges Songkran Merit-Making
HUSOC staff, faculty members and
students gathered in RN Building’s ground lobby on April
9, 2009, to participate in a pre-Songkran merit-making
activity on the auspicious occasion of Thai New Year
celebration. Joining the religious assemble was HUSOC
Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopawiboon, who was
accompanied by his administrative team members including
Asst. Prof. Dr. Photcharanon Sayankena, Asst. Prof. Dr.
Chupak Suttisa, and Dr. Sopee Ountaya. After attending
Dharma sermons performed by nine holy monks from Wat
Kukaew, followed by a food and alms offering session,
all participants were fulfilled with not only the
post-sermon breakfast they shared but also the merit of
hope for happiness and prosperity.

Faculty Members attend ICER 2009
During March 25-27, 2009,
a large team of faculty members representing the Faculty
of Humanities and Social Sciences participated in the
2nd International Conference on Education Reform
organized by MSU’s Faculty of Education, Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Research
Institute of Northeastern Arts and Culture, in
conjunction with the National University of Laos and the
Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
At the conference, the theme of which was “Cultural
Diversity and Sustainable Education in a Changing World,”
a variety of papers were presented by scholars from
universities nationwide and overseas. To name merely a
few, active participants from HUSOC included our Dean,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Wajuppa Tossa, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chupak Suttisa, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Surasak Khamkhong, Dr. Tuangtip Klinbuppa, Dr.
Chalong Phanjan, Dr. Thananan Trongdee, Dr. Sopee
Ountaya, Dr. Intisarn Chaiyasuk, Dr. Witchaya Yoshida,
and Dr. Pimyupa Watkhaolarm. Approximately 300
participants attended the three-day conference, which
took place at Charoensri Grand Hotel, Udon Thani, one of
the most prosperous cities in the Northeast of Thailand.
 English Drama Performed at MSU
On February 12, 2009, an English
drama entitled Twelfth Night, by the great poet William
Shakespeare, was performed by senior EG students, in the
presence of a large audience assembling at MSU
Amphitheatre to witness the spectacular event on the
twelfth night of the month. Impressed by the superb
performance, all spectators praised the EG students for
their outstanding acting and organizing abilities, as
well as their excellent English skills. Reflecting not
only the students’ talents but also their group
cooperation and coordination, the performance was
undoubtedly another great achievement worthy of
admiration and pride.
 Gateway to
Eastern World Opened at MSU
The 8th academic and cultural fair
entitled “Opening the Gateway to the Eastern World” took
place at MSU from January 26 to February 6, 2009, hosted
by the Department of Thai and Oriental Languages,
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. A large
audience gathered at MSU Amphitheatre to enjoy
spectacular cultural performances by HUSOC students
majoring in Vietnamese, Lao, Khmer, Japanese, Chinese,
Korean, and Thai. Also taking place at the annual
festival were language skill competitions in which
students from universities nationwide took part for
rewards and certificates.

Student Wins 4th Place at a National Speech Contest
Keeratapan Manokhan, fourth-year English major student,
won 4th place at a national speech contest organized by National Institute of Development Administration
(NIDA) at its open house on December 15, 2008. The top eight finalists from all over the country spoke on
the topic of “Maintaining a Thai Identity in a Globalized World.” The winner was awarded the H.R.H. Princess
Mahachakri Sirindhorn’s trophy and Keeratapan took home cash prize, certificate and another memorable experience.

 HUSOC Dean Welcomes
Assessment Team
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, HUSOC Dean, along
with his administrative members, welcomed a team of MSU
assessment committee who paid a visit to the faculty on
January 5, 2009, for the purpose of evaluating its
operational efficiency for the fiscal year 2008. In the
morning session, HUSOC’s duty performance on various
operational categories was thoroughly assessed on the
basis of official reports and evidence presented by the
faculty’s QA staff. The results of the assessment were
reported by the visiting team members in the afternoon
session, with beneficial comments and suggestions for
the faculty’s further improvement.
 HUSOC Graduates Return Home
A total of 259 graduates,
including 229 BA, 21 MA, and 9 Ph.D. degree holders,
returned to their HUSOC home to attend the annual
graduation ceremony held at MSU Central Gymnasium on
December 23, 2008. At the auspicious commencement,
graciously presided over by HRH Princess Maha Chakri
Sirindhorn, undergraduate and post-graduate degree
certificates were conferred upon 6763 graduates from
MSU’s 17 faculties, including those from the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences. A three-day
pre-ceremonial practice took place at Rajanakharin
Building, where the graduates were warmly welcomed
before their intensive rehearsal began.

Student Wins National Speech Competition 2008
Keeratapan Manokhan, fourth-year English major student
representing MSU, was announced the first runner-up in
the Grand Final of the 10th National English Speech
Competition held at Kasetsart University on November 7,
2008. Keeratapan had earlier won a regional competition
prior to entering the Grand Final, in which
approximately 20 representatives of universities
nationwide competed for top spots. The yearly
competition has been organized by the Australian Studies
Center in conjunction with the Australian Embassy and
Kasetsart University. With Keeratapan’s winning, it has
been three consecutive years that MSU representatives
have succeeded in this prestigious competition,
including last year’s first place winning by Tawit

Loy Krathong Hilariously Celebrated at MSU
The annual Loy Krathong festival was hilariously celebrated at MSU on November 10, 2008.
A great crowd of enthusiastic students, along with faculty and staff members, participated in
the celebration that began with colorful processions and spectacular Krathong floats from 17 faculties,
featuring folk dances, music, and amusing performances. Major events in the evening included the Noppamat
Queen contest, the Krathong contest, and numerous performances by students of various clubs and faculties.
Besides entertainment programs, over 100 booths of fun activities and shops were set up around the central
pond next to the Faculty of Science, where thousands of participants floated their Krathongs, making wishes
for blessings and everlasting happiness.

 Former MSU President visits HUSOC
Professor Dr. Pavich Tongroach, former MSU President, paid an unofficial visit to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on April 11,
2008. Dr. Tongroach, who was also former Secretary-General of the Commission for Higher Education Office, was intimately welcomed by HUSOC
administrative committee and faculty members,
who highly appreciated his generous donation of a respectable Buddha image to the Faculty on the auspicious Songkran occasion.
 Seminar on
Thai-Lao Folk Tales
A seminar and workshop on
Adaptation of Thai-Lao Folk Tales for Performance and
Language Teaching was organized by the Department of
Western Languages and Linguistics during March 29-30,
2008. The opening ceremony was presided over by HUSOC
Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Pathom Hongsuwan,
who was accompanied by Assoc Prof. Dr. Wajuppa Tossa,
Director of MSU Story-telling Project, along with
approximately 50 participants, including faculty
members, students, and teachers from local schools and
neighboring provinces.
 HUSOC’s Merit
Making
A merit-making session was held on
February 22, 2008, at Rajanakharin Building ground-floor
lobby, where a large group of staff and faculty members
gathered early in the morning to offer alms to nine holy
monks and attend Dharma sermons. Among the attendants
were HUSOC Dean, Asst. Prof. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, all
the administrative team and some staff members, all of
whom were contented with the merit they gained in
addition to the rare opportunity to assemble and share a
post-sermon meal.
 EG Drama
Performance
The 4th-year English-major
students presented a drama performance entitled ‘Crimson
Goddesses’ on February 11, 2008. The performance was a
great success, reflecting not only the EG senior’s
superb linguistic and artistic talents but also their
remarkable capabilities of coordination and cooperation
with others. Their spectacular production stunned a
large audience of nearly 700 spectators witnessing the
show which took place at MSU Amphitheatre.
 4th HUSO-HUSOC
Friendship Games
HUSOC students held the 4th
HUSO-HUSOC Friendship Games on Sunday February 10,
2008. The sporting tradition has been set up as a
special occasion on which students from the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSO from Khon Kaen
University and HUSOC from Mahasarakham University) to
gather and participate in friendly sports, recreation,
and cheer activities for the purpose of relationship
enhancement. The day-long event began after the opening
remarks by HUSOC Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet
Poopatwiboon, who teamed up with HUSOC students and
faculty members to intimately welcome HUSO students and
a group of faculty and staff from KKU, led by Asst.
Prof. Wirat Wongpinanwattana, HUSO’s Deputy Dean for
Student Affairs. The activities featured not only sports
competitions but also fun games, spectacular
performances, as well as music and dance, which
altogether filled the day with happy, friendly, and warm
atmosphere.
 Visitors
from Korea
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, HUSOC Dean,
welcomed a group of students and teachers from South
Korea who paid a visit to the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences on January 25, 2008. The main purpose of
the tour program was to visit the Center for Korean
Studies as well as to further promote Korean culture at
MSU. Ms. Kim Yong Ae, the group’s representative, also
donated a number of Korean textbooks to the Faculty for
Korean-major students and interested people.
 HUSOC’s New Dean
HUSOC’s administrative team, along with staff and
faculty members, gathered in Inthanin Conference Room to
witness the official appointment ceremony held in honor
of Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, the faculty’s
newly appointed Dean, on November 16, 2007. At the
ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thaweesilp Subwattana, the
faculty’s former Dean, welcomed and congratulated his
successor, whose term was to commence as of November 18,
2007. Also witnessing the event were MSU Vice-President
for Administration, Vice-President for Planning and
Research, and Vice-President for Student Affairs.
 Duty
Performance Evaluation
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet
Poopatwiboon, HUSOC Dean, warmly received MSU committee
members appointed to evaluate the Faculty’s duty
performance based on the 2007’s annual report. The
evaluating team comprised Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiyut
Sirisut, Ms. Umaporn Mulasilp, Mr. Panomkorn Wejakama,
and Ms. Wassana Papatang.
 Pre-Festival Loy Krathong
HUSOC Students
Organization held a pre-festival Loy Krathong party on
November 17, 2007, with the aim of enhancing students’
appreciation of Thai culture as well as their
involvement in cultural conservation activities. The
highlights of the event included students’ brilliant
performances, food booths offered by students from all
study programs, and a Miss Noppamart contest to select
HUSOC representatives to join MSU’s annual Loy Krathong
celebration to be held on November 22, 2007.
 National Speech Competition
Winner
Tawit Namkam, a 4th-year
English-major student from MSU, won the first place in
the Grand Final of the 9th National English
Language Speech Competition, held at Queen Sirikit
Convention Center in Bangkok on November 10, 2007.
Representing MSU, Tawit had won the regional competition
early in August prior to participating in the Grand
Final. His success in the national competition has
greatly contributed to MSU’s reputation and added to the
mutual pride among MSU students and faculty members.
 Halloween night 2007
A Halloween party
was held at Rajanakharin Building’s ground floor on the
night of October 31, 2007. In their fanciful costumes,
approximately 300 DWLL students and faculty members
gathered at RN lobby, hilariously celebrating the
ghost-haunting evening, which was highlighted by
spectacular performances, music, and a costume contest.
Not only did the students enjoy the celebration, but
they also learned more about Western culture, especially
Halloween, through their teachers’ small talks and
sharing experiences with their friends.
 QA Training in Lao PDR
Asst. Prof. Dr.
Somkiet Poopatwiboon, Deputy Dean for Administration,
represented the Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences in a QA seminar entitled “Tranining of the
Trainer,” held in Lao PDR during October 1-4, 2007. The
seminar was aimed at training QA specialists as well as
establishing a QA network among higher educational
institutions in Thailand.
 Special
Lecture in Honor of HUSOC Retirees
A
special lecture on “History, Feeling, Body, and Space”
was given on September 27, 2007 by Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Atthachak Satayanurak, from Chiangmai University, on the
occasion of the retirement of HUSOC faculty members:
Asst. Prof. Thanom Tana, Asst. Prof. Kiattisal
Wongmukda, Asst. Prof. Paiboon Boonchai, and Asst. Prof.
Somchai Ninathi. After the academic session, a reception
was held at the RN Building backyard in honor of the
four retiring members, featuring splendid food and
refreshments along with students’ fabulous performances.
 Buddhist Lent Merit Making
On Thursday July 26, 2007, a
number of staff and faculty members, along with a large
group of students, visited Wat Thanyawat in downtown
Maha Sarakham on the occasion of entering Buddhist Lent.
In addition to offering Buddhist Lent candles as a
customary form of making merit, the HUSOC
representatives, including Dr. Thaweesilp Subwattana,
Dr. Photcharanon Sayankena, and Asst. Prof. Thanom Tana,
offered alms to the monks prior to their attendance at
Dhama sermons, after which all were rewarded with merit
and contentment.
 Vermont Lecturers Visit MSU
During July 6-10, 2007, Asst. Prof.
Dr. Thaweesilp Subwattana, Dean of the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences, together with several
faculty members of the Department of Western Languages
and Linguistics, cordially received a group of lecturers
from the University of Vermont, USA. After his official
welcoming speech taking place at MSU Museum on July 7,
the dean gave an insightful lecture on Isan people, the
lifestyles of whom have been particularly displayed at
the museum. Other activities included visiting Nachuek
Pittayasan School, Faculty of Humanity and Social
Sciences, Faculty of Arts and so on. Not only were the
visitors impressed with Isan culture and food, but they
also participated in a basic Isan traditional folk dance
prepared by the Faculty of Arts. On the last night,
there had been a warm and cozy farewell party with an
Isan soul soothing ceremony before both guests and hosts
shared their teaching experiences. All visitors said
that they had learned a great deal about Isan and
Thailand and would share the experience with their
students in the USA.
 A Trip to Historical Parks
A study tour of the
nation’s old capitals was held by the Department of
History during July 12-15. Joining in the trip were
Asst. Prof. Dr. Thaweesilp Subwattana and Asst. Prof.
Somchart Maneechote, along with a number of faculty
members and History-major students, all of whom were
provided with an opportunity to visit many historical
parks in Sukhothai and Ayudhaya. Despite exhaustion, the
trip not only enhanced the students’ insights of Thai
history but also enriched their experiences in working
together and learning through activities.
 QA Workshop
A workshop on QA policy
and procedure was held on Friday, July 6, 2007, at
Rajanakharin Building, for all HUSOC faculty members in
preparation for the 2006’s assessment. A special lecture
was given at the workshop by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chinda
Ngarmsutthi, a nationally renowned QA specialist and
former HUSOC staff, whose kind assistance was highly
appreciated among the participants. Another QA training
session on SAR preparation for each department is to be
organized soon.
 Sunthorn Phu in Concert
Asst. Prof. Dr.
Somkiet Pupatwiboon, HUSOC Deputy Dean, presided at the
Opening Ceremony of ‘Sunthorn Phu’s Day’ held by the
Department of Thai and Oriental Languages on June 29,
2007 in commemoration of the nation’s and the world’s
great poet. In his opening remarks, Dr. Pupatwiboon
welcomed a large number of MSU and high school students
who gathered at Rajanakharin Building’s lobby to join
the celebration and witness numerous
academically-entertaining activities, highlighted by
students’ performances and a literary singing contest.

ORIENTATION ‘07
An orientation was
held on June 3, 2007, for HUSOC freshmen, during which
Asst. Prof. Dr. Thaweesilp Subwattana, Dean, along with
HUSOC administrators and faculty members, warmly
welcomed approximately 630 new students, giving them
advice on how they could successfully study and gain
beneficial experiences at the university to become
efficient graduates in the future.
 Meeting
with Pre-program Students
HUSOC administrators and
faculty members, led by Asst. Prof. Thanya
Sangkhaphanthanont, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, Deputy Dean for
Administration, and Asst. Prof. Somchart Maneechote,
Deputy Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, warmly
welcomed approximately 80 pre-program students at
Inthanin Conference Room, Rajanakharin Building, on
April 19, 2007. The students, admitted to MSU earlier in
February via direct-quota admissions, were given advice
on how to study effectively and happily at the
university.
 HUSOC Seminar and Field Trip
A field trip was
organized during March 13-18, 2007, to Taru Tao National
Park in Satun Province in the South. Joining the trip
were HUSOC administrators, led by Asst. Prof. Dr.
Taweesilp Subwattana, along with faculty members and
administrative staff, all of whom found the tour of the
south most enjoyable and memorable. Not only were they
given an opportunity to admire the beauty of the
islands, but they also gained insight from their meeting
and discussion with regard to how the faculty’s
administrative and academic operation could be improved.
 KMUTT’s Visit
On March 8, 2007, a
team of administrators and staff members from Faculty of
Liberal Arts, King Mongkut’s University of Technology
Thonburi, paid an official visit to Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences at MSU. At the reception
held in Intanin Room, Rajanakharin Building, HUSOC Dean,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Taweesilp Subwattana, presented a
welcome speech prior to a long meeting session, during
which staff and faculty members of both parties
exchanged ideas on administration, academic operation,
and community service.
 Grant Presentation
Asst. Prof. Dr.
Taweesilp Subwattana, Dean, welcomed representatives of
the Government Savings Bank who paid the Faculty an
official visit to present study grants to HUSOC students
on November 10, 2006. A total of 6 scholarships were
granted to students majoring in Vietnamese and in Khmer,
3 each, to support their studies of the two languages.
Attendants in the presentation included a number of
students, parents, and HUSOC staff and faculty members.
 Loy
Krathong Festival at MSU
The
annual Loy Krathong Festival was held at MSU on November
3, 2006. The hilarious event was highlighted by long and
fanciful processions representing the 17 faculties. The
evening activities featured students’ exhibitions,
entertainment, and a Noppamart Queen contest. The
celebration was witnessed by a large jubilant crowd of
students and Sarakham townspeople.
 A
French Concert
The French major and minor students from the French
Division, Department of Western Languages and
Linguistics, recently organized the 2nd ‘Concert de
Chansons Francaises’ at Mahasarakham University Museum.
The purpose of the activity, attended by a large number
of students and interested people, was to provide
extensive opportunities for students to practice using
French for communication as well as to further
familiarize themselves with French culture.
 HUSOC
Staff Seminar
A seminar on
“Strategic Planning for Work Efficiency” was held during
September 29-30, 2006 at Ban Pha Ngarm Resort in Prajin
Buri Province. The seminar was aimed at enhancing work
efficiency and harmony among 28 HUSOC staff
participants.
 Vietnamese
National Day
The
Department of Thai and Oriental Languages organized a
“Show and Exhibit” session to celebrate Vietnamese
National Day on September 2, 2006, at the ground floor
of Rajanakharin Building. The event featured
exhibitions, joyful activities and performances by
students majoring in Vietnamese Studies and
approximately 60 Vietnamese students attending the
Cultural Exchange program at MSU.
 HUSOC Merit Making
The faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences held a merit-making activity on
Friday September 1, 2006 at Rajanakharin Building.
Joining the gathering were a large number of students
and faculty members, who attended the blessing sermon
from nine revered monks prior to food and provisions
offering sessions. The ceremony was organized with the
purpose of enhancing moral support and inspiring hope
for the happiness and prosperity among HUSOC students
and faculty members.
 RENCONTRES FRANCAISES 2006
On Saturday August 19, 2006,
the French Language Division, Department of Western
Languages and Linguistics, organized the annual French
language competition and exhibition entitled “Rencontres
Francaises 2006.” Joining the great event were
approximately 200 high school students from 10 major
schools in the northeastern region. According to the
program coordinator, Mr. Amnuay Somtoa, the event was a
great success.
 ENGLISH TEACHING SEMINAR
June
28-30, 2006. DWLL, in response to the Faculty’s policy
on extending academic and community services, held
another seminar and workshop on “English Teaching for
Secondary School Teachers” at Takasila Hotel, Maha
Sarakham Province. A total of 52 secondary school
English teachers from Kalasin, Roi-Et, and Maha Sarakham
Provinces attended the three-day seminar, organized
under the sponsorship of MSU’s Research and Planning
Division. Based on the assessment outcomes, the
majority of participants expressed their appreciation of
gaining opportunities to brush up their English teaching
skills and to learn about new trends in language
teaching from experienced guest speakers, all of whom
are DWLL faculty members.
 June 19-20, 2006.
DWLL
organized a two-day workshop on “Second Language
Assessment: from Test Development to Interpretation”
at Inthanin Conference Room, RN Building, on MSU’s
Khamriang Campus. Approximately 50 English teachers from
DWLL and other colleges and secondary schools in Maha
Sarakham attended lectures on assessing writing,
placement and proficiency test development, ESP testing,
and alternative assessment by Dr. Vivien Berry
of the University of Hong Kong. The special lectures
and workshop provided opportunities for the participants
to sharpen their assessment methods and skills.
 June 14,
2006.
An orientation was held for
approximately 550 HUSOC freshmen with the purpose of
familiarizing the new students with the faculty’s
academic system as well as lifestyle within the MSU
community. The Dean of the faculty, accompanied by
HUSOC administration and faculty members, warmly
welcomed the students, presenting information on the
faculty and giving them advice on how to be an efficient
and successful student. Prior to the faculty’s session,
an MSU-wide orientation had been organized by the
university’s Academic Service Division in the morning
session, during which all the new freshy students
attended talks by MSU President and various
administrators.
 June 8, 2006.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences held a
two-day annual seminar, in which Asst. Prof. Dr.
Taweesil Suebvatana Dean, presented opening remarks
prior to lectures and presentations by guest speakers,
including Asst. Prof. Dr. Suppachai Samappito,
Vice-president for Research and Planning, and Asst.
Prof. Dr. Chinda Ngamsutthi, former Vice-president for
Quality Assurance. Approximately 90 staff and faculty
members attended the seminar, participating in
small-group discussion on topics pertaining to academic
program development policies, students’ quality
improvement strategies, research plans and QA
assessment. The seminar was suspended to allow the
participants to join in the nationwide celebration of
the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession
to the Throne during the weekend and resumed the
following Monday, June 12, 2006.
 May 26,
2006. Asst. Prof. Dr. Thaveesilp Subwattana, Dean
of the
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented a
gift set of educational equipment, comprising 2
computers and 1 printer, to Ban Thabongmang School,
represented by Mr. Tueng Ayuta, Director, and staff
members. After presenting words of thanks, the school’s
representatives exchanged ideas on work and vision with
the dean and HUSOC faculty members.
 The
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, led by Asst.
Prof. Somchat Thanachote and Asst. Prof. Thanom Tana,
warmly welcomed committee members from MSU Quality
Development and Assurance Center, who paid an official
visit to the Faculty. The meeting of the two teams was
arranged for the purpose of exchanging ideas regarding
preparation for the Faculty’s second QA evaluation to
take place in August this year.

Poopatwiboon, Deputy Dean for Administration, was
invited to present a special talk on ‘Student-centered
Teaching and Learning,’ at Mekong River View Hotel,
Nakhon Phanom. A seminar on ‘Management of General
Education Courses’ was held by MSU’s Academic Affairs
Division for over 200 MSU staff and faculty members.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Thaveesilp
Subwattana, Dean, warmly welcomed Vietnamese
Consul to Thailand, who visited the Faculty with
7 Vietnamese students to be enrolled for a
preparatory Thai Language class at MSU this
academic year.
 Delegations from Guangxi University for Nationalities of
People’s Republic of China paid a visit to MSU. The meeting
between representatives of the two institutions featured formal
negotiation and exchanges of ideas with regard to further
cooperation and collaboration between the two universities.

DWLL Holds Pre-graduation Seminar
The
Department of Western Languages and Linguistics held a
pre-graduation seminar on February 24, 2010, in LDC
Conference Room. The seminar was aimed at providing
essential information and beneficial thoughts to 4th-year
English-major and French-major students in preparation
for their life and work after graduation. Each DWLL
faculty member presented a sincere mini-lecture to the
group of 97 eager and attentive participants, who were
later asked to complete a program evaluation form. The
evening session was held at MSU Museum, where all of the
seniors and the lecturers gathered for dinner and fun
activities. The farewell gathering was filled with a
jubilant, intimate, sincere, and tearful atmosphere. Yet,
no one was ready to say goodbye.

EG Seniors Organize Senior Project Exhibition
4th-year English-major students put on an exhibition of
their English Senior Projects on March 5, 2010, at Rajanakharin
Building Lobby Lounge. The presentation featured exhibition booths,
posters, DVD presentations, and information on 21 English projects
carried out by the seniors as a partial fulfillment of their degree
requirements. The exhibition attracted a large number of students,
staff members and passers-by, all of whom found the projects very
impressive

HUSOC Organizes International Conference
The
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, MSU, in
conjunction with School of Humanities, Hyderabad
University, India, organized an international conference
on Language, Society, and Culture in Asian Contexts (LSCAC
2010) during January 6-7, 2010. The two-day event was
held at Kantarawichai Conference Room, Faculty of
Nursing, where approximately 250 participants from 21
countries took part, presenting academic papers in the
areas of Asian Linguistics, Community Development,
Cultural Diversity, Ethnic Diversity, Foreign Language
Teaching, Folktale and Storytelling, History, Language
and Translation, Literature, Philosophy, and Sustainable
Development. Also featured in the conference were two
keynote lectures: one on Preservation of
Linguistics and Cultural Diversity in Asian Contexts,
by Prof. Dr. Suwilai Premsrirat and another entitled
One and Two Points of Cultural Identity of Zhuang and
Tai Groups, by Prof. Fan Hong Gui. The final
day of the event was highlighted by a panel discussion
on The Role of Scholars in Preserving and
Promoting Asian Languages and Cultures, by
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wajuppa Tossa, Ms. Zhou Mengzhen, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Bernard Glenn Neff, Dr. James R. Chamberlain,
and Prof. Dr. J. Prabhakara Rao.

HUSOC Freshmen Initiated into
University Lifestyle
An initiation program was
organized by HUSOC Student Council, under the leadership
of Thirayut Leekhot, during June 10 – 12, 2009, to
introduce HUSOC freshmen to new lifestyles at the
university. Emphasized in the program were entertaining
activities such as students’ performances, cheerleading
shows, and singing faculty songs. The program was held
in continuation of the annual pan-MSU initiation program
that took place earlier this month in preparation for
new students’ adjustment to their new learning
environment at MSU. HUSOC initiation was carried out
under close supervision of HUSOC faculty and staff
members.

DWLL Seminar Held in Rayong
A pre-semester seminar was held
during May 25-27on Samed Island, Rayong, where DWLL and
LDC staff and faculty members gathered to discuss a
textbook compilation project and a collaborative plan
for the two closely related units. Also discussed at
the meeting was preparation of syllabuses and textbooks
for courses offered in Academic year 2009. A
circum-island tour was arranged after the final session
was dismissed.

HUSOC Holds Monologue Contest
A monologue contest took place at RN
Building’s lobby on February 18, 2009, organized by
HUSOC Student Organization for the purpose of promoting
and enhancing students’ public speaking talents.
The activity was held under the faculty’s annual project
entitled “Students’ Stage,” in which students are
encouraged to take part for the sake of their experience
enrichment as well as their personality improvement.
The contest featured 9 finalists representing different
majors, all of whom stunned the audience with their
great rhetorical speeches and acting styles. The
winner was Pailin Chaiburi, 1st-year student
majoring in Korean, with 1st and 2nd
runners-up being Chainaichon Plangcharoensri, 4th-year
EG, and Chitipa Rotchanakiattipong, 1st-year
LP, respectively. Congratulations on a job well
done.

5th HUSO-HUSOC
Games Held at KKU
The 5th HUSO-HUSOC Games was held
on February 8, 2009, at KKU Sport Complex, where a large
crowd of HUSO students from KKU assembled to welcome
over 250 HUSOC students and staff members from MSU. The
day-long event began after the opening speech
presentation by Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaowalak Apichatwanlop,
Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The relationship-enhancement activities included
friendly sports competitions, fun games, and
cheerleading shows. The evening program was highlighted
by spectacular performances and music by representatives
of both institutions. It was another successful and
memorable day for both the hosts, HUSO students, and the
visitors, HUSOC students.

HUSOC Students Participate in
Rajaphruek Games
HUSOC students
participated in the 14th Rajaphruek Games, MSU’s annual
intramural sports competition held during January 25 –
31, 2009. Athletes representing the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences were among those most
outstanding and enthusiastic sports teams from 17
faculties in the games. The sporting festival, aiming at
enhancing unity and sportsmanship among MSU students,
was greatly successful, as not only athletes but also a
huge crowd of enthusiastic spectators participated in
all the events, particularly on the closing day when the
final round of cheerleading competition took place.
HUSOC cheerleaders repeated their victory as they were
announced 1st runner-up for the third consecutive year.

Chinese New Year
Celebrated at MSU
The Confucius Institute at MSU in conjunction
with the Department of Thai and Oriental
Languages, Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences, held a hilarious celebration on the
occasion of Chinese New Year 2009. MSU
President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suppachai Samappito,
presided over the opening ceremony of the
colorful event, witnessed by a large jubilant
audience assembling at MSU Central Amphitheatre.
Also joining the jubilee were Prof. Huang
Bingsheng, Director of the institute, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon, HUSOC Dean, and
VIP members representing governmental and
private units in Maha Sarakham Province, who
enjoyed numerous spectacular performances by
Chinese students at MSU and Chinese-major
students from the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences.

DWLL Holds X’mas Party
DWLL students held a
Christmas Party on December 25, 2008, at Rajanakharin
Building’s backyard, where over 200 English-major
students and faculty members gathered to joyfully
celebrate one of the world’s most joyous occasions. The
party, run in English, was filled with a hilarious and
entertaining atmosphere, featuring students’
performances, gift exchange, X’mas carols, as well as
food and refreshment. The celebration provided an
opportunity for students not only to get together before
their New Year celebration, but also to experience and
learn about Western culture.

Halloween 2008
Held at RN Building’s lobby on the night of October 31, 2008, our Halloween Party 2008 was as usual a successful one.
More than half of DWLL faculty members and approximately 300 English and French major students dressing in
their fanciful costumes hilariously celebrated the event. The party's highlights included a few short ghost-haunting films
amazingly produced by DWLL students, ghost-dressing competition, and ghost storytelling by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wajuppa Tossa,

Approximately 320 students nationwide, having recently been selected through the general admissions system,

HUSOC Dean Welcomes New Students
On April 3, 2008, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Somkiet Poopatwiboon and Asst. Prof. Dr.
Pathom Hongmala, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs,
welcomed 121 HUSOC students attending pre-program
courses during the summer in preparation for their
selected degree programs which will commence in June.
Prior to their meeting with the new students, an
orientation was held by MSU’s Academic Service Division
for all pre-program students who have been admitted to
the various faculties at MSU through the direct quota
admission.

A New Linkage Established
Asst. Prof. Somchart Maneechote welcomed Mr. Pinyochai Wongareenamsuk, Manager of All C. P.
Corporation, Ltd., who visited the Faculty on April 10, 2008. A linkage between the corporation
and MSU has been established with the aim of providing opportunities for Chinese students attending
classes at MSU to conduct their apprenticeship at various units under the company’s supervision.

NRU QA
Workshop
Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University held a workshop on
Quality Assurance Assessment during February 18-20,
2008, at Inthanin Conference Room, Rajanakharin
Building. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
at MSU was chosen as the site for the training, where a
total of 33 NRU key administrators were intimately
received by HUSOC administrators and staff members.

Website
Design Training
A workshop on Website Design was
organized on February 16-17, 2008, by the Department of
Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences. Participants were HUSOC students who
needed to improve additional skills in designing a
webpage before graduating.

HUSOC
Students’ Performance at Red Cross Fair
On February 4, 2008, a team of
students representing the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences presented a spectacular performance at
the annual Red Cross Fair, or Bun Berk Fa Festival, in
Maha Sarakham. In addition to the performance, study
programs offered the Faculty were also promoted at the
University’s exhibition booth opened at the fair site.

Graduation
Ceremony 2007
Asst. Prof. Dr. Photcharanon
Sayankena, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, along with
HUSOC faculty and staff members, warmly received 223
HUSOC graduates who returned to the Faculty to attend
MSU’s annual Graduation Ceremony. Intensive practice
sessions took place during December 15-16, 2007, prior
to the final rehearsal on December 17. The prestigious
ceremony, graciously presided over by Her Royal Highness
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, was held on Wednesday,
December 19, 2007. It was undoubtedly a great occasion
that filled all graduates’ hearts with utmost happiness
and pride.

Study Tour in China
A study tour was
organized during September 17-24, 2007, for a team of
HUSOC staff and faculty members to visit Quangxi
University and Yunnan University in People’s Republic of
China. The aim of the trip was to negotiate and
establish academic collaboration with the two host
institutions, with focus on developing graduate study
programs in Thai-Chinese Cultural Studies and in Thai
and Chinese Languages.

HUSOC Donation
A group of HUSOC staff members
presented a sum of money to Wat Ku Kaew on September 11,
2007. The money was donated by HUSOC students and staff
members as part of a fund-raising project for the
purchase of electric poles and for the promotion of
Buddhism.

DWLL Seminar
The Department of
Western Languages and Linguistics held a seminar on the
management and instruction of general English courses.
In the three-day seminar, taking place during May 29-31,
2007, at Rayong Beach Hotel, 35 DWLL faculty members
discussed and suggested effective solutions to problems
regarding teaching general English courses at MSU. A
post-meeting fun session was arranged for the
participants to spend some time at the beach. That not
only helped relieve their tension but also fulfilled
their desire to be temporarily free from hard work.

QA STAFF’S VISIT
On June 4, 2007, Asst.
Prof. Thanom Tana and Asst. Prof. Somchart Maneechote,
along with a team of staff representing Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences, welcomed MSU
Vice-President for Quality Assurance, Dr. Wantana
Sinsiri, who led a team of QA staff in a visit to the
faculty. QA policy and preparatory guidelines for 2006’s
evaluation were presented and discussed, followed by a
short question-answer session.

DWLL Faculty Invited as Guest
Lecturers
During the months of
March and April, four DWLL faculty members were invited
as guest lecturers at three Eric centers in Kalasin and
Roi-Et provinces, where seminars on TKT (Teaching
Knowledge Test) were held. A team of three members,
comprising Asst. Prof. Dr. Lertdow Sayankena, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Udorn Wan-arom, and Dr. Pilanut Phusawisot,
gave their lectures at Eric Center 1 (Kalasin Pittayasan
School) during March 17-21, 2007, and at Center 2 (Nong
Kungsri School) during April 6-10, 2007. Another DWLL
lecturer, Ajarn Montree Polyium, was invited to a TKT
seminar taking place at Roi-Et Eric Center 3
(Phonthongpattanawittaya School) during March 19-23,
2007. All the seminars were greatly successful, as
evidenced by the participants’ very high level of
satisfaction.

HUSOC New Year Party
HUSOC faculty and staff members gathered for their New
Year celebration on the night of December 27, 2006. The
highlights of the gathering included blessing remarks by
the dean and senior staff, gift exchange, food and
beverages, and singing. All hearts were filled with
hopes and best wishes for happiness and prosperity in
the coming year 2007.

Graduation Ceremony
The Graduation Ceremony 2006 took
place at MSU on December 19, 2006. A total of 5095
graduates attended the ceremony, graciously presided
over by HRH Princess Sirindhorn. Attendants from the
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences included 10
with a doctoral degree, 12 with master’s degree, and 186
with a bachelor’s degree. The greatest and most
prestigious event of the year was observed by a large
crowd of people from all over Isan provinces and other
regions, most of whom were the graduates’ parents and
relatives.

A Road Show in Lao PDR
A team of HUSOC faculty
members and students, led by Asst. Prof. Somchart
Maneechote and Ajarn Lawan Sangkhaphanthanon, held an
exhibition at the National University of Lao People’s
Democratic Republic during November 7-8, 2006. The
exhibition was aimed at promoting the Lao language
programs offered at MSU as well as providing information
on the University.

Quality
Assessment
The Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences was officially visited by a committee
from the Office of Education Standards and Quality
Assessment on September 27, 2006. The Dean welcomed the
visitors and presented reports on the faculty’s
operation during the past academic years. Also joining
the reception were Deputy Dean of the College of
Politics and Governance, Director of the Research
Institute of Northeastern Art and Culture, and a team of
HUSOC administrators and faculty members.

Bowling
Competition
HUSOC representatives took part in a charity bowling
competition organized by the Faculty of Engineering on
September 2, 2006. Numerous participants representing
all MSU’s faculties and supporting units participated in
the activity, which was aimed at raising funds to be
offered to Nong Son Temple in Maha Sarakham. All
participants found the gathering a great fun.

HUSO-HUSOC FRIENDSHIP GAMES 2006
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen
University, or HUSO, held the 3rd HUSO-HUSOC Friendship
Games on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at KKU’s Sports
Complex. A group of approximately 400 students from
Mahasarakham University’s Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences, or HUSOC, led by Asst. Prof. Dr.
Thaweesilp Subwattana, Dean, and Asst. Prof. Dr.
Lertdow Sayankena, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs,
were warmly welcomed by hundreds of KKU’s HUSO students
and staff members, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pinpinat
Phueakphan, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs. The
gathering of the students from the two neighboring
universities was highlighted by day-long
friendship-enhancement activities and friendly sporting
events, including basketball, and football matches, as
well as cheerleading shows and hilarious farewell
dinner. The closing ceremony featured a spectacular
performance by the host, which greatly impressed the
visiting MSU team. The traditional sports competition
will be hosted by MSU next academic year.

BIG CLEANING DAY
On the auspicious occasions of the 60th
anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s
accession to the throne and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s
birthday anniversary, students and faculty members from
the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
participated in the tree-planting and cleaning
activities taking place around Rajanakharin Building on
Saturday, August 10, 2006. The opening ceremony of the
Big Cleaning Day, an MSU-wide event, was presided over
by MSU President, Professor Doctor Adul Viriyavejakul.

Confucius Institute Conference
in Beijing, China
July 6, 2006.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Pissamai Sri-ampai, MSU vice-president
for Academic and Foreign Affairs and Asst. Prof. Dr.
Somkiet Poopatwiboon, deputy dean for Administration of
the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
represented Mahasarakham University to participate in
the first Confucius
Institute Conference
in Beijing, China. This international conference hosted
hundreds of participants from all over the world who in
some way play important roles in the development of
Chinese language teaching and learning in foreign
settings. The Confucius Institute is a non-profit public
institute set up by China’s National Office for Teaching
Chinese as a Foreign Language to promote friendly
relationship with other countries; enhance the
understanding of the Chinese language and culture among

learning conditions for them. One of the major
universities in Northeast Thailand that offer Chinese
Language programs, Mahasarakham University is in the
process of constructing a local office of the Confucius
Institute, which will enhance the teaching and learning
of Chinese in this region of the country.

A VISIT BY THE STAR
June 25, 2006.
DWLL staff members and students
were paid a surprise visit by R The Star, or Anattapon
Sirichumsaeing, accompanied by his parents and a few
escorts. After a short photo-taking session and
conversation, the Star, an HOS student, presented a
bouquet of white roses to DWLL representatives, Asst.
Prof. Dr. Lertdow Sayankena and Asst. Prof. Dr.
Somkiet Poopatwiboon, as a token of his appreciation
and gratitude for constant support and encouragement.
He also gave words of pledge for his best performance on
next language courses he plans to take.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences arranged interviews with students newly
admitted to the Faculty via the central admissions
system. The atmosphere of the interviews was filled
with warmth amidst interviewees’ excitement.

17, 2006.
Asst. Prof. Thanya Sangkhaphathanont, Deputy
Dean for Academic Affairs, welcomed a group of pre-program
HUSOC students enrolled for general education courses
during the summer. The students, admitted to MSU
through the direct quota admissions early in March,
attended the orientation prior to a meeting with their
advisors in the afternoon session.
April 12, 2006.
A Songkran celebration was organized at the ground floor
of Borommarajkumari Building, where hundreds of MSU
staff and faculty members gathered to witness the
blessing ceremony, presided over by MSU President, Prof.
Adulya Viriyavejakul, after which they enjoyed watching
performances from various faculties and offices. A
Songkran Queen contest also took place as other
activities and water splash went on. The hilarious
celebration of the Thai New Year takes place annually,
signifying MSU’s policy on conservation of art and
culture.

March 10, 2006.
HUSOC Student Council held an official
annual seminar to wrap up
and evaluate year-round projects under its responsibility.
Prior to the main sessions, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lertdow Sayankena,
Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, presented opening remarks,
commenting on the overall performance of the council.

The Department of Thai and Oriental
Languages Department held an annual international event
entitled
'Opening the Gateway to the East’
in
which hundreds of attendants enjoyed exhibitions on foods and
cultures of Asian countries. Visitors were also entertained by
brilliant cultural performances representing various nations,
including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Korea, China, Japan, and
Thailand.

The senior class of English-major students
performed a traditional drama entitled
Once in a Midsummer Night’s Dream
at MSU Amphitheatre. The performance was attended by
approximately 700 spectators who not only enjoyed the
spectacular event but also admired the students’ superb acting
talents as well as their outstanding English skills.

The Faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences, Mahasarakham University hosted the 2nd HUSO
(KKU)-HUSOC (MSU) Traditional Sports Competitions. The friendly
sports activities were organized to tighten the ties among
humanities and social sciences students of the two institutions. |
